We have always been proactive in integrating data from new data sources. We regard it as part of the emerging world of sensors which has so enhanced motion reasearch activity in the last few years.
When a customer came to us with their new SMI Eye tracker device, we set about looking for a solution to this new integration challenge. It wasn't so easy as there was no relaible way to track the delay between sending a trigger signal and data streaming from the eye tracker, a feature common with an increasing number of third party devices. But as a result, we developed a whole new feature for our ODIN software suite, which we called Data Combination.
The new feature is generally applicable to many different third party sensors and devices. It makes it possible to combine data from external devices, even if there is no way of reliably triggering the start of the data stream from that device with any temporal accuracy.
You can read about Data Combination and how we integrate other third party data streams in our data intergration pages.
