Gannon University use Codamotion systems for a wide variety of applications to support their research.

The Biomedical Engineering Laboratories at Gannon University are involved in the design of human-robot interface as well as the measurement and simulation of human movements for the rehabilitation and the enhancement of human performance.
The Codamotion system is integrated with instrumentations that acquire the ground reaction forces of a person walking, as well as the electrical activity of the muscles. The data ensemble from these devices is used to create realistic simulations of the body biomechanics that they use to enhance sports performance, as a diagnostic tool, and treatment planning for impaired individuals. 

Research Activity

The current and planned research projects using the Codamotion system are:
  1. Analysis of the mechanics of movement for each of the triathlon’s sub-disciplines (running, swimming, cycling) to simulate the effect that each muscles group has in the whole competition.
  2. Calibration of a vision-based system that uses raster images for tracking movements underwater, 3) computational models of the human body to study how muscles and soft tissues (e.g. ligaments) function during motions such as walking and running. These models can then be used to optimize surgical techniques, like determining the best ACL graft placement to restore normal function.
